Performing Arts Program

The NSCF Performing Arts Program provides technical assistance and grants to performing arts organizations to acquire and/or renovate mid-size, live performing arts facilities.

The program operates in the 9-county Bay Area and in Monterey and Santa Cruz counties. The current round of funding is made possible by a grant from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

All funds from the initial capitalization of The Performing Arts Program Grant Program have been successfully disbursed. Please check back for information about subsequent rounds of funding.

Planning and Capital Projects
Planning Grants furnish funds for costs that might be incurred before buying, renovating or building property: from feasibility studies and appraisals to environmental testing.

Capital Grants cover project-related costs for nonprofits buying or leasing space long-term, or renovating or building new space.

Since inception, through its NSCF Performing Arts Program, NCCLF has awarded 10 capital grants totaling over $2.8 million, and eight planning grants totaling $315,000.  These funds are helping to create over 260,000 square feet of permanent space for nonprofit performing arts organizations.  Our grants will leverage over $126 million in additional public and private financing.

EBCPA

Since 1968, the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts (EBCPA) has served Richmond and its surrounding communities by providing broad arts access and using the arts as a vehicle for social change. EBCPA offers live performances in theater, music and dance, as well as screenings of original media productions and a full range of training programs for youth and adults.

EBCPA produces approximately 35 performances a year and offers performing arts classes at its facility. These classes include African and Mexican music and dance, European chamber music and classical ballet, jazz, and video production.

EBCPA was awarded a $45,000 planning grant from our Performing Arts Program (June 2005) to support the acquisition and improvement of their current space in the Winters Building.
